Student Council

GEMS Founders School Al Mizhar School Student Council serves the student body in all aspects of school life by linking students, administration, and the greater community.

PURPOSE OF STUDENT COUNCIL

Student Council is an organization conducted by students and supervised by adults.  The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.  In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body.  They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community.

The function of the student council is based upon parliamentary procedures.  Ideas are presented, voted upon and confirmed by the student body president.  Any student that is interested in leadership, organizational behavior, event planning or becoming more involved in the school are welcome to become involved.

Hear from Our Student Council

  • Hello! GFM parents and students, I'm Muna Nimer, a year ten student and  the student council president here in GEMS Founders School - Al Mizhar from 2020-2021.

It is an honour for my student council team and me to represent our school with bright and innovative thoughts. My goal here in GFM is to give students a voice, a right to doubt their worries and concerns without thinking twice, and be as honest as possible as they say; without the children's voice, there is no contrast or equality.

  • Greetings!

I wish you a warm welcome and it's a pleasure to have you here.

My name is Ashwati Palanivel; from yr.9D, Courageous Knights

My role in the student council is the Health and Wellbeing Officer. Our job here is to change people's views of mental disorders as they are often overlooked. Additionally, we aid people facing mental health disorders by discussing their emotions and experiences. We do this so that anyone with mental disorders can be in a friendly environment in this school either if they're already in the school or are going to be enrolled in the upcoming years.

I am also the editor for the school's YouTube channel! My job is to edit clips with transitions, color correction, and many more effects to upload to our youtube channel.

Overall the student council has helped me gain confidence and improve my leadership skills as they encourage me to be independent and to share and express my ideas.

During the student council meetings, I really enjoy how we start discussing different solutions to different problems and how we all work together as a team to develop our school.
