Foundation Stage

Foundation Stage (FS1 and FS2)

The Foundation Stage School offers our FS1 and FS2 children, spacious, free flowing classrooms with high quality outdoor learning spaces, that inspire the imagination. The Foundation Stage has built up a reputation as a caring school where children are nurtured and supported throughout their learning experiences.

Our learning environments are calm, engaging and ever changing to stimulate learning opportunities at every opportunity.  Children are encouraged to be independent, resilient learners with a “can do” attitude.  We nurture positive relationships between the children focusing on using high quality communication and language skills and playing collaboratively.
Our home from home school is a place for our children to feel safe and confident enough to choose their own learning and decide on how they learn best. We are immensely proud of the communication and language development of our students and encourage practical activities that enhance this learning area. The water area in our courtyard is the main attraction alongside other areas such as the school track and adventurous climbing frames on our spacious playground.

Although carefully planning our topics and reading book spines for the year, teachers and leaders are encouraged to be flexible with planning and give children the opportunity to lead the learning.
The Foundation Stage of school introduces young learners to school-life, as students develop their motor skills, foundation-level numeracy and literacy skills, and self-esteem through play-based learning activities in a safe and exciting environment.
The areas of learning are:

communication and language
physical development
personal, social and emotional development
literacy
mathematics
understanding the world
expressive arts and design
