Akram Tarik

Akram Tarik joins GEMS Founders, Al Mizhar as the new Principal starting in August 2020.

Before joining GFM, Akram held the role of Principal at GEMS Westminster School - Ras Al Khaimah since 2015. Prior to moving to RAK, he spent 19 years in a variety of leadership roles in inner-London.

Born in London and with Moroccan ancestry, he dedicated the early part of his career in education working in the state school sector in the UK. He is driven by the ambition to provide world-class experiences and deliver exceptional educational outcomes for young people.

Combining the heritage and tradition of the UAE with GEMS Education’s innovative and enterprising approach to teaching and learning, Akram is passionate about providing a quality education for every learner. He holds a strong understanding and knowledge of contemporary leadership practices in complex educational environments and the intellectual strength, professional integrity and creativity in identifying solutions.

Akram is also a trained Office for Standards in Education Children's Services and Skills (OFSTED) inspector with a background in Natural Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry.
